Community policing
The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) has invested $11.4 billion to add community policing officers to the nation's streets, enhance crime fighting technology, support crime prevention initiatives, and provide training and technical assistance to help advance community policing since 1994.
Over the years, COPS has awarded more than 38,000 grants to more than 13,000 agencies across the U.S. These grants tackle important and immediate needs of communities across America through 80 innovative grant programs.
The project was supported by Grant Numbers 2001-CK-WX-K092 and 2004-CK-WX-0406 awarded to the Institute for Law and Justice by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, U.S. Department of Justice.
